Interesting post. Look for Michael Des Barres in Silverhead. They put out an album called 16 and Savaged in 1972 I think, with a cover that raised eyebrows at the time.
I had no idea Marti Jones recorded the first version (demo or otherwise) of "Egyptian!"
Also of note in the "Wings" category was Gary Morris's version in 1983, which won Song of the Year at both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards. Although it wasn't a hit on the pop charts, it was a huge country hit (peaking at number 4). I also always thought it was hilarious that Larry Henley, the song's co-writer, was the high falsetto voice in the Newbeats' novelty classic, "Bread and Butter." Talk about diverse!
