For the '90s, the Gipsy Kings took the hated "Hotel California" and made it the greatest track in the soundtrack for _The Big Lebowski_.

Well, I admit I'm soft on the original, but it probably helps that I didn't live through its FM radio heyday. Either way, I can't say enough about how much I love both the Gipsy Kings version and The Big Lebowski!

Some great picks on here. I knew about most of these (I was a huge fan of the Aswad version of “Don’t Turn Around” in the late 80s but never realized it had previously been done by Tina Turner and Luther Vandross). I was in college in Canada in the late 80s so was aware of the 54-40 version of “I Go Blind”. And Whodini’s second album with “Friends” on it was one of my most played album of the mid-80s.

But “Torn”? Never knew that was a cover. Gotta say, that Ednaswap version ROCKS!! Far superior to the Imbruglia cover for me.

One 90s song most people probably don’t know is a cover is Annie Lennox’s 1995 version of “No More I Love You’s” which was originally done by The Lover Speaks on their self-titled debut in 1986. That’s one of my desert island discs and although Lennox’s version was fine, the original will always be the benchmark for me.

Mark--Speaking of spoiler alerts...Great call on the Annie Lennox tune! I almost included it here but decided it would have to wait until the next "90s Covers" post. Let's consider your comment a teaser;-).
