“Bela Lugosi’s Dead” by Bauhaus, a Halloween alt-rock staple
“Liar” by The Rollins Band with Henry Rollins at his most devilish
“Everythings Gone Green” by New Order, which has the haunting opening line “Help me, somebody, help me…”
“The Four Horsemen” from the wild _666_ album by the ‘70s-era Greek rock band Aphrodite’s Child, which featured synth genius Vangelis before he was famous
“Herd Culling” by Porcupine Tree, a time signature twister, which has my favorite ominous opener, “Son, go fetch the rifle now, I think there’s something in the yard…”
“Mojo Hand” by The Cold Stares, some great SRV-like blues
“The Perfume of Decay” by Tigercub, some truly demented axe work, shake and shiver…
“Dying Days” by Screaming Trees, hey, if the title and band name don’t do it for you…
One question: no Black Sabbath, Ozzy, or Dio on that playlist?
Excellent list! Didn't realize that's where Vangelis came from. Awesome tidbit. Re: Ozzy--Totally fair question. This was actually a playlist I put together for a Halloween party, so I went with a groovier, more dance-able take on Sabbath courtesy of The Cardigans.
Excellent playlist!
