Speaking of Kansas Joe, I thought you might be interested in my three-part series on a long-lost blues photo, that may include him. Here's a link to part one: https://bradtolinski.substack.com/p/is-this-the-most-important-unseen

You thought correctly, Brad! What an incredible story and what an incredible find!

"Levee" was later (sadly and fittingly) revived by Buckwheat Zydeco in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina...

Good call, David!

Great info. Even though Led Zep gets bagged for borrowing songs from other artists, there has been a flood of artists who have borrowed from them as well. And I never heard Led Zep complain about not getting compensation for it once... https://edthemiddleagedhipster.substack.com/p/bands-that-sound-like-led-zeppelin?r=211ma1&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

I think that's a fair assessment, Ed. Perfect case in point, John Bonham's epic drumming on "Levee" has virtually nothing to do with the original, but it is one of the most sampled pieces of music of all time. Here are the Beastie Boys openly acknowledging their on theft: https://open.spotify.com/track/6yKldTTcSa2BdpKPEtdYp3?si=e9d0c567ed0d4e54
